It is much talked about in Churches today. Many revivals take place, but with little, long lasting effect on the Church of Jesus Christ! Think about the most recent revival that your church had. What was the result of that revival? Where are the people now that were saved, or re-dedicated their life to Christ? Have they truly grown? Has your Church been radically changed by what took place, or is it still the same place that it used to be. It seems that revival does not have the effects that we intend. Or maybe it is that we want other people to change, but we will not allow God to change our own hearts.
Maybe it is time for something very different…..REFORMATION!
Let us look at some different things to help you understand why I believe we need Reformation.
The New Oxford American Dictionary defines revival as: “an improvement in the condition or strength of something”
Now look at what it defines Reformation as: “The action or process of reforming an institution or practice. Origin late Middle English: from Latin reformatio(n-), from reformare ‘shape again’ ”
Can you see what I mean? What we need in the church is not mearly a patching of the structure that does not work, what the Church needs is a complete re-working, or re-shaping.
You may say “what is wrong with the church?”. Well, as a Christian, I am very concerned about the many things that are going on the the Church. Many Churches do not preach the true gospel of Jesus Christ, are weak and un-biblical in their evangelistic message, and a whole host of other things that are contrary to God’s word. It is my desire to attack these strongholds that the devil has in our Churches and our lives as Christians, with the passionate desire to bring Reformation to the Church of Jesus Christ. It is time that we as God’s children put aside everything that is worldly in our lives and allow God to re-shape us into the image He wants us to be. As the clay, we have tried to mold ourselves, but it is time that we allow God to shape us in the manner that he wants to. God has placed the desire in my heart to address these needs and to challenge the Church to do what God has designed it to do. I am warning you, I will be bold in declaring what I believe God convicted me of and hope and pray that you will listen. My prayer is that we all may become more like Jesus Christ. May His name be praised and glorified!
