Why I believe the Bible

Why should I believe the Bible?

It is a question that many Christians will be asked. We must be ready to give a good, and indisputable answer to this question. But do you have one? Many Christians have gone though their lives having a “blind faith” as to the validity of the Bible. Indeed, Christians have a blind faith to many of the issues and important doctrines of the Bible, relying on experience to prove them. However, Christ does not want us to have a “blind faith”, but one that is real and true.

In his powerful sermon, “Why I believe the Bible”, Dr. Baucham explains why we must give a defense of the Bible’s validity, and proceeds to give his defense. This sermon will encourage and inspire you to search the scripture “and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:” 1 Peter 3:15

Fire and Light

Fire and Light

I know it has been a while since I have posted anything, but I felt led to share this with all of you.

I was reading in my daily devotional by C.H. Spurgeon this morning and the focus was on Galatians 5:25, which says If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit.” Spurgeon mentioned in his commentary on the verse that living by Faith and walking by Faith are the two most important things in a Christian’s life. Living by Faith (Faith) and walking by Faith (Holiness) are two inseparable factors. We cannot posses true faith in God, and not live a life of Holiness, good work, etc.

While contemplating these facts, the Lord gave me an illustration that effectively communicates this idea. Think of the Sun. It is a massive ball of Fire and molten lava, and the light it puts off makes a world of difference………..literally. Our lives are to be like the sun. The fire and molten lava is living by Faith (Faith), representing the Spirit working within us,  cultivating an attitude of righteousness, and godliness in Christ.  The light the sun puts off is walking by Faith (Holiness), which represents the outward expression of the work that the Spirit is executing within us.

If you have one, you must have the other. You can’t have faith without holiness. You can’t have fire without light.

In John 8:12 Jesus said “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.

Therefore “If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit.” Galatians 5:25
