Announcement and encouragement!

To all my readers!

As you can see I have updated my site to a new theme. I believe this is cleaner than my former theme, and I hope that you like, and enjoy it as much as I do. Also, I have changed a page here and added a new one.

The Armory page, I changed to The Intellectual Armory and have placed the books that have been most influential in my life to that page. Please comment on that page and make suggestions if you think there are any books I would like to, or need, to read.

New to the site is a Quotes page where you can find favorite quotes, challenging quotes, and other quotes that I have found helpful. All of these options are available at the top of the site.

Now for the encouragement.

I was reading this morning in my Morning and Evening Devotions by Charles Spurgeon, and today’s reading included a poem I would like to share with you.

When the world my heart is rending,

With it’s heaviest storm of care,

My glad thoughts to heaven ascending,

Find a refuge from despair.

Faith’s brights vision shall sustain me

Till life’s pilgrimage is past;

Fears may vex and troubles pain me,

I shall reach my home at last.

C.H. Spurgeon

It is wonderful that we can know that this world is not all that there is. That we are only pilgrams passing through to our native land. Praise the Lord!

Fire and Light

Fire and Light

I know it has been a while since I have posted anything, but I felt led to share this with all of you.

I was reading in my daily devotional by C.H. Spurgeon this morning and the focus was on Galatians 5:25, which says If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit.” Spurgeon mentioned in his commentary on the verse that living by Faith and walking by Faith are the two most important things in a Christian’s life. Living by Faith (Faith) and walking by Faith (Holiness) are two inseparable factors. We cannot posses true faith in God, and not live a life of Holiness, good work, etc.

While contemplating these facts, the Lord gave me an illustration that effectively communicates this idea. Think of the Sun. It is a massive ball of Fire and molten lava, and the light it puts off makes a world of difference………..literally. Our lives are to be like the sun. The fire and molten lava is living by Faith (Faith), representing the Spirit working within us,  cultivating an attitude of righteousness, and godliness in Christ.  The light the sun puts off is walking by Faith (Holiness), which represents the outward expression of the work that the Spirit is executing within us.

If you have one, you must have the other. You can’t have faith without holiness. You can’t have fire without light.

In John 8:12 Jesus said “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.

Therefore “If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit.” Galatians 5:25
